Consult, collaborate, coach…..consider mentoring!
We invite you to make a positive difference in an Osgoode student’s law school experience by joining the Mentor Program. The program is designed in order to provide all participants with a greater sense of community and involvement and to foster more meaningful relationships.
This popular program matches students with an Osgoode alumnus of their choice in an effort to develop mentoring relationships in which career related advice can be provided. While we encourage you to meet in person at least once each term, where, when and what you discuss is left to your mutual discretion. Meetings can be informal and mentors can specify whether they prefer to mentor solely via email or phone.
Students who have participated in previous years have found it extremely helpful to have this opportunity to discuss topics including the articling process, career opportunities, the advantages and disadvantages of different types of practice, and course selection with someone familiar with the practice of law. For more information please click here.
We are looking, in particular, for Osgoode alumni who are working in the following fields to volunteer their time and expertise for the Mentor Program: aboriginal, immigration, children's law, arbitration/mediation, administrative law and banking/finance. |
If you have any questions about the Mentor Program, please do not hesitate to visit the Advancement (Alumni) Office in Room 415, or call Marilyn Maxwell-Smith at 416-736-5638. You may also e-mail questions to mentor@osgoode.yorku.ca.
